Why the “Stalker Check” and “Fan Check” Facebook Applications Dissapeared

I don’t know if this line in their policies was recent due to the Stalker Check and Fan Check applications, but Facebook has a line in it’s policies now that would forbid such an application.

Policy: You must not circumvent our intended limitations on core Facebook features. For example:

  • You must not notify a user that someone has removed the user as a friend.
  • You must not track visits to a user’s profile, or estimate the number of such visits, whether aggregated anonymously or identified individually.

Flight Attendants are Facebook Stalkers too!

JetstarWhen you were 15, were you hit on by a flight attendant and then added as a friend on Facebook? All without giving them your name?

No?  Well, this girl was thanks to the power of Facebook combined with an airline employee who broke privacy regulations, is a creeper, criminal, and much more I’m sure.

Facebook is great because it lets you stay close with your friends by “stalking” them, but seriously… Hitting on a 15 year old… We don’t approve.

Fan Check is Back and Now with Photo Tagging

The Fan Check Application is back now after a little downtime. It now creates an image of your top friends, uploads it to your account with your friends tagged. There have been rumors about it being a virus, but that is unlikely.

Stalker Check Cannot be Added Right Now

I had been getting reports of the “Stalker Check” Facebook application not working. It continued to work fine for me, but in order to replicate what people were trying to do, I removed the application, and then tried to re-add it. That’s where the problem came in.

It won’t let me re-add the application after I removed it, and I’m sure that’s the same for people who haven’t used it before.

So, I suppose this means that if you were one of the first people to get it, then it still works for you, but I could not add the application at this time.

If anyone has any updates, please post it in the comments and we’ll make an update.
